1 out of 2 homes in Colorado have high radon levels above 4pCi/L, which is equivalent to smoking 8 cigarettes a day.

Radon is a naturally occurring, cancer causing radioactive gas. It is present in all types of homes, whether old or new. You cannot see, smell or taste radon. Children and senior citizens are more sensitive to radon than the average adult. The EPA recommends all homes get tested for radon every 5 years. If you currently have a radon mitigation system, the EPA recommends testing every 2 years to make sure it is functioning properly.

  • Radon is responsible for over 21,000 deaths each year in the U.S.

  • Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer behind smoking cigarettes.

  • 15% of lung cancers worldwide are caused by elevated indoor radon levels.
